This class is a refresher course for older students and an introductory course for younger students. We will start our lesson with a KLW chart. This chart will help students organize their ideas and discuss what they know about the topic, what they want to know, and at the end of the lesson what they’ve Learned. Students will be asked a series of questions and I will write their answers down. Students will also receive worksheets prior to the start of the lesson for them to write down their own ideas. Students will be making their own apple book where they will record what they learn about apples that they will be able to share at the end of class. While discussing the life cycle and different things we know about apples we will be writing down the different nouns and verbs and discussing the difference between a noun and a verb. This descriptive activity will help students determine which words are nouns and verbs. By using charts and games to introduce the life cycle of an apple and help introduce different nouns and verbs, students will stay engaged through discussion and play.
Learning Goals
