In this course, I will give sessions teaching the content of the AP World History: Modern course for students taking the AP exam in May. I spent the last two summers grading essays for the AP World History: Modern Exam for the College Board, and I feel that I can use this experience to help students in this course succeed. My hope for this course is that students that join will communicate in the class conversation board about what they might need extra help in, the unit you are currently working on in your school, anything that was not clear that you've learned before, or whatever else you may need. If students don't have any suggestions on topics needed to be covered in a particular meeting, I will have a lesson prepared that covers one section of the course that I think is especially necessary. Since this may be difficult with a larger class, I have capped the number of students in any particular meeting at six. My teaching style is very engaging, using a large amount of student interaction and student-produced examples. Students are often asked to give self-references to concepts in order to enhance memory retrieval with important concepts. Students will be able to interact with each other and with me throughout the class. Students joining this course should either already be part of an AP World History: Modern course or be actively self-studying in order to take the AP World History: Modern exam. I will make sure that content is presented as if it were the students' first time learning the information, so as to accommodate for students who may be learning the material at different times than others. In the event that students do not give suggestions of topics to cover in these meetings, I will have prepared topics for the meetings. For more information on the course, a description of the exam, and much more, the Course at a Glance and the Course and Exam Description (CED) are posted in the classroom so that all learners have access to this important information. Additional information is reposted below. The AP World History: Modern course is an introductory college-level modern world history course. Students cultivate their understanding of world history from c. 1200 CE to the present through analyzing historical sources and learning to make connections and craft historical arguments as they explore concepts like humans and the environment, cultural developments and interactions, governance, economic systems, social interactions and organization, and technology and innovation. Course Content Influenced by the Understanding by Design® (Wiggins and McTighe) model, this course framework provides a description of the course requirements necessary for student success. The AP World History: Modern framework is organized into nine commonly taught units of study that provide one possible sequence for the course. As always, you have the flexibility to organize the course content as you like. Unit 1: The Global Tapestry (1200-1450) 8%–10% of exam weight Unit 2: Networks of Exchange (1200-1450) 8%–10% of exam weight Unit 3: Land-Based Empires (1450-1750) 12%–15% of exam weight Unit 4: Transoceanic Interconnections (1450-1750) 12%–15% of exam weight Unit 5: Revolutions (1750-1900) 12%–15% of exam weight Unit 6: Consequences of Industrialization (1750-1900) 12%–15% of exam weight Unit 7: Global Conflict (1900 - Present) 8%–10% of exam weight Unit 8: Cold War and Decolonization (1900 - Present) 8%–10% of exam weight Unit 9: Globalization (1900 - Present) 8%–10% of exam weight

Teacher expertise and credentials
Texas Teaching Certificate in Social Studies/History
Some sensitive topics may be covered when discussing concepts in the AP World History course, but they will be handled in a way that is both age-appropriate and ideologically balanced. I have been teaching AP classes for 8 years and I have 10 years of teaching experience in world history and psychology, which has trained me to approach sensitive topics in an empathetic, highly understanding way. I have also graded AP History essays for the College Board for three years, which has given me an expertise on the grading process that I would love to share with your students.
