In this 3-session self-paced course, students will prepare to succeed in an upcoming AP English Literature & Composition course during the regular school year. They will receive an overview of the exam, as well as strategies for scoring well in both the multiple choice and free-response sections. Additionally, the course will cover an in-depth novel study from a list of possible titles that get students great "mileage" on this particular exam. The course will consist of 3 pre-recorded lessons or lectures covering the material. Students will communicate their novel selection and begin reading between sessions 1 and 2, so they are prepared for the guided notes and analysis on the title of their choice. I am open for communication between sessions to help assist students with any additional questions they may have.

AP English Literature & Composition: A Course and Exam Overview
In this lesson, students will learn about the course goals for an AP Lit class, as well as the structure and makeup of the exam.
Objectives:
1. Understand the scope and purpose of an AP Lit course
2. Understand the structure of the AP exam, including content, question types, and scoring
3. Select a novel from a list of options to use for our in-depth novel study. This will be a title that is helpful to students on the AP Lit exam.
*Homework will include reading the novel selected
Lesson 2:
Novel Introduction & Overview/FRQ Overview & Prep
Objectives:
1. Guided notes on the novel chosen for study
2. A detailed analysis of the 3 Free Response Questions on the AP Lit exam, with specific strategies for effectively tackling each
Lesson 3:
Novel Assessment/Multiple Choice Strategies
Objectives:
1. Capture the essentials from a novel study (guide to lit cards)
2. Examine the structure of the multiple choice section of the exam
3. Review & practice specific strategies for maximizing the multiple choice score

Supply List
Students will need access to one novel of their choice from a provided list. Since most of the novels on the list are currently in the public domain, they can be accessed online for free as pdf texts; I am happy to provide those links to students once they enroll in the course. However, you are also welcome to purchase hard copies on your own.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
