AP Lit Exam Prep: FRQ Writing
In this 4-week course, students will receive close instruction in and practice with the 3 Free Response Questions on the AP Literature & Composition exam- Prose & Poetry Analysis, as well as the Open Question (#3). Great exam prep!

1 hour per week. Students will have assignments geared towards increasing their ease and skill with the FRQ section of the AP Lit exam. Assignments will include: practice with prompt analysis, mastering (and reviewing) academic vocabulary, reviewing literary works, and practicing essay writing.Assessment
Final assessment will include a full-length essay response to an FRQ of student's choice, with detailed individual feedback.Class Experience

Intermediate Level
This class will meet 4 times for 45 minutes per session. Our focus will be on improving students' skills with the 3 Free-Response Questions on the AP Literature & Composition exam, approaching in early May of this year. Topics covered will include an overview of the 3 essay prompts, specific methods and strategies for addressing each, building content-specific vocabulary, and both guided and individual practice with sample prompts. Teaching will happen via live instruction during class meeting times, with time for questions and answers built in. Discussion and guided practice will be a regular part of our sessions, allowing students to ensure they are comfortable with the material covered. This course is a great way to prepare yourself for an upcoming AP English exam!
Learning Goals
Students will learn about the three essay prompts on the AP Literature & Composition exam.
Students will learn a specific strategy ("The Arch Method") for analyzing any FRQ 1 or FRQ 2 (poetry and prose analysis) questions on the AP Lit exam.

Other Details
Pre-Requisites
Students should either be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an AP Literature & Composition course. The course will focus on better preparing students to succeed on the FRQ section of their AP Lit exam in May.
Supply List
A journal or notebook is helpful for note-taking during class sessions. Students are encouraged to use this or a device to help them keep class information organized in one place.
