AP Computer Science A Exam - Practice Sessions

**Class Format**

Each week, we will tackle new practice questions together. Some weeks will focus on multiple-choice questions, while other weeks will center on free-response questions.

**What to Expect**

* At the start of each class, learners will be given specific questions to solve.
* After working on the questions, we’ll share and discuss the correct answers.
* For multiple-choice questions, we aim to cover 10-20 questions per session.
* For free-response questions, depending on their complexity, we’ll work through 2-4 problems together.

We will cover a variety of topics from the AP Computer Science A exam, including:

* Introductory Java Language Features
* Classes and Objects
* Inheritance and Polymorphism
* Abstract Classes and Interfaces
* The Object Class
* The Math Class and Random Numbers
* Program Design and Analysis
* Software Development
* Program Specification, Design, and Implementation
* Testing and Debugging
* Object-Oriented Program Design
* Determining Relationships Between Classes
* UML Diagrams
* Implementing Classes and Methods
* Array Lists
* One-Dimensional and Two-Dimensional Arrays
* Recursion and Analysis of Recursive Methods
* Sorting and Searching

**Solutions Discussion**

As we go over the answers, we’ll discuss any solutions that learners find unclear. We’ll also share tips and tricks, including strategies for quickly eliminating incorrect choices in multiple-choice questions. This will help learners approach similar problems more efficiently in the future.

**Expectations from Learners**

Learners should come ready to engage with the problems and actively participate, even if they don’t have the correct answer. The more problems we work through, the better they will become. Lack of participation can make it difficult to address questions and doubts effectively.

**Additional Help During the Week**

Students are encouraged to practice additional problems and send them to me for review throughout the week. Ideally, students should spend 4-6 hours each week preparing for the exam.

 **What This Class is Not About**

This class is not for learners completely new to Java. If you need to learn Java from the basics, I offer a separate class focused on that. This class is dedicated to solving real problems from the AP Computer Science A exam.
