US Grade 9 - 12
In this course, students will meet 8 times to review material covered in the AP Biology exam. During our time together, we'll review the course content in a group setting. Students are encouraged to take notes and ask questions as I review the most popular topics on the exam. I do not often use PPT or Slide presentations and instead prefer to take notes by hand while sharing via a document camera. Note sheets will be posted on the classroom page for the week. I will post a key to my worksheets after each session is finished. All classroom meetings are recorded and are available to registered learners on the classroom page after our sessions. If your student doesn't have access to a printer- that's fine! They can copy along by hand or watch the lessons! This course requires students to have their own copy of Barron's AP Biology review book (available on Amazon or at booksellers for approximately $20; 7th edition is preferred but if your student has an older edition that will work, too). This book will provide students with weekly review questions and 5 practice exams. At the end of every session, students will be assigned review material as homework to continue their review independently. Class meetings will follow the following general format: Beginning of class: Approximately 5 minutes for students to answer 4 multiple-choice review questions. These questions are based on the topic covered in the previous meeting. Topic of the day: Approximately 40 minutes for students to review topic 1 for the day. During this time I will be using a document camera to share my notes while students follow along. Review Questions: Approximately 5 minutes for students to take a quick break (bathroom, water, etc) or ask questions on the concepts from the first half of class. During this time I will also have 4 multiple-choice review questions displayed for students to work on should they not have questions or not need the break. Topic of the day: Approximately 40 minutes for reviewing topic of the day. **Please note the timeline above is given as a roadmap. Some topics require more discussion- others require less. Students ultimately will determine the pace of the class. Week 1: Topic 1- Biochemistry & the Cell; Topic 2: Cell Cycle & Meiosis Week 2: Topic 1: Photosynthesis; Topic 2: Cellular Respiration Week 3: Topic 1: Heredity & Inheritance; Topic 2: Chi-Square; Topic 3; Evolution Week 4: Topic 1: Hardy-Weinberg; Topic 2: Ecology Given how much there is to review and how little time we have to do it, the course does move quickly!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I am a science teacher who resides in Rochester, NY with my husband, two children, and dog. I have twelve years of experience teaching high school level biology and chemistry and love teaching both topics! I completed my MS degree at Towson University where I discovered my passion for microbiology.
In addition to my classroom experience, I have had the opportunity to travel to over 20 countries across the world. Two of my favorite trips, Madagascar and Costa Rica, were real-world field trips with students to focus on local flora and fauna. In my spare time, I love to row crew and workout with my family.
