Assessment
Informal assessment will take place throughout the lesson by asking students if they have questions. If students seem very talkative/engaged, we'll share the ways in which they can apply the strategies after the class. Due to the nature of this class, great care will be taken to support students in engaging to the level they feel comfortable with. No one will be put on the spot or "forced" to answer.Class Experience
This class is available for 1:1, and can be scheduled at a mutually agreeable time. This class is ideal for learners who have an interest in learning what anxiety is, what can make it worse and what can make it better. Strategies are included that can be used at home and at school. There are 10 other variations of this class that can also be scheduled. See below for details. This is a lots of information type class, with little participation asked for, so learners can feel more relaxed. This is an educational, fact-based course, and not a counseling or therapy group session. No prior experience is needed, only an interest in understanding worry/anxiety and how to eliminate it. The class will have three sections. I. What is worry/anxiety (feelings and physical response) II. The purpose of anxiety III. Strategies we can use to increase calm There are variations of the class which can be requested. These include: 1. Foundation class to understand anxiety, and what behaviors can increase or decrease anxiety symptoms 2. Understanding anxiety, and strategies we can use to help with school-related worries 3. Understanding anxiety, and strategies we can use to help with bedtime-related worries 4. Understanding anxiety and panic attacks, with strategies we can use for lowering extreme anxiety responses 5. Understanding anxiety, and music strategies we can use to calm 6. Understanding anxiety, and art strategies we can use to calm 7. Understanding anxiety, and game/puzzle strategies we can use to calm 8. Understanding anxiety in social settings, and strategies to calm when with friends or public places 9. Understanding anxiety related to friendships, and hacks for making friends 10. Understanding anxiety related to bullying, and the traits of those who bully and get bullied 11. Understanding anxiety related to learning and memory, and hacks for making learning easier I can also personalize classes to include strategies to address anxiety in specific situations. I have a structured, yet humor-filled teaching style, designed to keep student's interest and spark discussion. It's important in this type of class especially, to use lots of encouragement and support for individual learners. I'll use slides and video clips to reinforce concepts as well. I would be thrilled to have the opportunity to share my passion and knowledge for anxiety elimination with your learner.

Sources
This is a fact-based course. I don't anticipate sensitive topics being discussed. In the event a student would bring up a personal anxiety related issue, I will recognize the feeling/comment (i.e. "That can be really difficult") and respond, "That's important information to share with a trusted adult in a private/one-on-one setting. For now, let's talk about...". This has been a successful strategy in previous fact-based courses to address any sensitive topics that may come up. I don't believe parental guidance is required. However, parents know best if their child will more comfortable with them by their side. The fact-based content of this course doesn't require a parent, but the nature/personality of the specific learner may.
