Class Experience

This class is meant to help kids understand, recognize, and calm anxiety. The tips taught in this class help with other emotions as well. I include a personal story of when I felt anxiety, and then teach the parts of the brain using fun nicknames and pictures to help the kids remember their functions. We will be talking about the Hippocampus (Memory Brain), the Pre-Frontal Cortex (Smart Brain), and the Amygdala (Safety Brain), and what happens to them when we feel anxiety. I will also be teaching the children 3 simple ways to calm down anxiety and get the smart brain working again! The course encourages interaction between the students and the teacher, including practicing the techniques and tips. My slides use visual based learning techniques to help the kids remember what we are learning. I encourage students to practice outside of their class and teach their families what they learned.
