Annotated Narratives: Exploring Short Stories Across Layers of Meaning

Once students enter middle and high school, they are expected to take their own notes, or annotations, on the works they read. This can be frustrating because kids don't know what to record. 

This course breaks down annotations into manageable steps using short stories for students to practice with. In order to analyze a book or passage, students need to first comprehend the text, so we start by reviewing reading comprehension strategies. From there, we refresh our knowledge of figurative language, and ultimately end the course with an annotated short story. 

The teacher will review submitted work and Blooket scores and provide weekly progress report messages on Fridays (if work was completed).
