Description
Class Experience
Students will read the novel and develop an understanding of its meaning and message. We will cover many of the standard literary elements, devices, and strategies used by Sachar which makes Holes so popular with readers of all ages.
Students will be asked to read ~1/3rd of Holes each week prior to weeks 2, 3, and 4 respectively. Each chapter within the novel will have a number of short answer and/or multiple-choice questions students will need to answer in order to continue reading.
The price of this class includes a 1-time rental fee (2 months) for the novel on the Actively Learn platform of $3.50.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students will receive standard rubric feedback on their Actively Learn responses and occasional written feedback. Students will also participate in discussions in class and receive verbal feedback from me and their classmates.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
