 Week 1
Lesson 1
Introduction
Welcome and Introduction to the book In this class we will be learning about the author of the book, doing a cover page analysis to gain some insight to the book and learning all about Prince Edward Island! Students will also be able to work on a cover page for their journa
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Chapters 1-8
This week we will be summarizing and discussing chapters 1-8. Students will also hear a descriptive reading of “The White Way of Delight” and create art based on what they think it might look like. We will also be talking about the plot of this story.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Chapters 9-15
This week we will be summarizing and discussing chapters 9-15. We will also be making our own chalk boards or “slates” as they are called in the novel. We will also be talking about conflict in the novel.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Chapters 16-20
This week we will be reviewing the chapters and talking about friendship. Anne and Diana were bosom friends. Friends go through all kinds of ups and downs, even Anne and Diana. Students will also get to make raspberry cordial during class. We will also be discussing different characters in the novel and how students can add them to their notebook.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Chapters 21-27
Proper etiquette was very important in the novel. We will be discussing why it was so important and many different rules that Anne should have been following when having tea with Mrs. Allen. Students will have a chance to decorate or paint a tea cup, mug or terracotta flower pot during class.
 Week 6
Lesson 6
Chapters 28-32
In this class we will be discussing the Lady of Shallot and why she was mentioned in the book. We will read the poem together and then examine the painting. Students will compare the two and see how they compare and contrast. We will also be talking about the theme of this novel.
 Week 7
Lesson 7
Chapters 33-38
In this class we will be discussing the last chapters in the book. We will make a Venn diagram individually and as a class that will show how Anne's character has progressed throughout the novel.
 Week 8
Lesson 8
Summary
Students will get to present their final projects to the class and play a fun Anne of Green Gables trivia game.
Homework Offered
Optional homework will be provided in the classroom each week. This will consist of reading chapters of the book for our next class and vocabulary words.

Supply List Week 1: -Your Anne of Green Gables Book -Blank notebook or duotang with 7 pages Week 2: -A white piece of paper -Drawing supplies such as pastels, colored pencils or crayons Week 3: -A 4x6 or 8x10 picture frame (Can be found at the dollar store) -Chalkboard paint (Small bottles for under $5 can be found at Michael's or Walmart. Hardware stores also carry this.) -1” or 2” Paint Brush and water -Chalk and rag to wipe it off with Week 4: Raspberry cordial supplies -2.5 cups of raspberries -3 cups of water -3/4 cup of sugar -1.5 tbsp lemon juice -A pot, spoon, large bowl. Week 5: A plain mug, tea cup or flower pot that can be painted or decorated Week 6: Journal Week 7: Journal Week 8: Final Project
There is one class where students will need to use a stove top so please have an adult ready to supervise students.
