Anime Film of the Week Social Club - Otakus Unite!
What's included
1 live meeting
25 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this social club, students will be assigned an anime movie to watch each week. The assigned movies will primarily be Studio Ghibli classics, however we will watch a few from other renowned anime studios. In class, the learners and myself will discuss anime films following a Google slideshow I will have prepared for that lesson. As this is a discussion based class, learners will be asked a series of open ended questions about the assigned film, including what the film was about, who the main characters were, the challenges they faced, how they overcame those challenges, whether there were any noticeable themes present throughout, etc. Learners will be given some facts about each movie in a "Did You Know?" segment of each lesson. There will also usually be some kind of quiz or game I will have prepared for each lesson. Finally, learners are invited to dress like their favorite characters and bring toys or props to class! :-) Movie list (subject to change): WEEK ONE (Current week): Spirited Away WEEK TWO: The Garden of Words WEEK THREE: Princess Mononoke WEEK FOUR: Howl's Moving Castle WEEK FIVE: Ponyo WEEK SIX: My Neighbor Totoro WEEK SEVEN: Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind WEEK EIGHT: Kiki's Delivery Service WEEK NINE: The Wind Rises WEEK TEN: The Secret World of Arrietty WEEK ELEVEN: Whisper of the Heart WEEK TWELVE: From Up on Poppy Hill WEEK THIRTEEN: The Cat Returns WEEK FOURTEEN: The Tale of Princess Kaguya WEEK FIFTEEN: Tales from Earthsea ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anime, Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki, Naruto, InuYasha, Fullmetal Alchemist, Dragon Ball, Demon Slayer, Detective Conan, otaku, movie, film, social club

Meet the Teachers!
🎮 Mr. Vaughn, B.A., TESOL
Hi, my name is Vaughn! I am from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I love spending time with my 1-year-old son, my wife, Ms. Kait and our cat, Milo. 🐈⬛
While completing my bachelor's degree, I began teaching ESL online in 2019. Since then, I have branched out to the wonderfully diverse Outschool platform.
The thing I love about Outschool is that I can teach about the things I am truly passionate about, which include video games, anime, pop culture, and guitar. I always aim to find the best ways to engage my learners so that they will have an exciting and memorable learning experience. 💫
🎮 Ms. Kait, B.A. Intercultural Studies, TESOL
Hello, I'm Ms. Kait! I have been teaching online for 6 years, predominantly focusing on English as a Second Language. Recently, I transitioned to hosting gaming classes and I couldn't be more excited about it! As a lover of games like Zelda, Roblox, and Mario Party, I believe in creating a safe and engaging environment for all kids to learn in. I can't wait to meet you in one of my gaming, Harry Potter or Marvel classes!
