Class Experience

In this ongoing writing club class, writers will have a chance to display their creativity by presenting their Fanfiction weekly. Learners can submit their work to the class prior to our meeting, allowing me ample time to review their work and provide feedback. At times, I will have a mini lesson at the beginning of each class, or an interesting prompt for learners to respond to. We will then read portions of each learner's work and share our ideas and feedback! I will teach them about how to give positive, yet constructive feedback. ** (NOTE) If learners choose, they can continue to build upon one story they have started to work on or continue to work on a new story for next week. **

This environment will enable learners to brainstorm ideas, receive feedback, and benefit from critiques from both me and their peers. I allow students to be able to share and showcase their work and teach them how to be good listeners and how to ask great questions about other's work. It is also a good opportunity for students to delve deeper into the editing and publishing process.

Each week, we will be discussing:

Week 1 - January 12 (Getting Started - How to make an Outline of Your Story)
Week 2 - January 19 (Constructive Criticism)
Week 3 - January 26 (Show, don't tell! )
Week 4 - February 9 (Describe and thrive)
Week 5 - February 16 (Developing Unique and Original Characters)
Week 6 - February 23 (Developing Unique and Original Characters)
Week 7 - March 2 (World Building - What is it and why is it important?)
Week 8 - March 9 (World Building - What is it and why is it important? Part 2)
Week 9 - March 16 (Setting - Where does it take place?)
Week 10 - March 23 (Setting - Where does it take place? Part 2)

(MORE weeks to come later!)
