In this 5-day camp, students will learning how to draw their favorite Studio Ghibli scenes and characters while chatting about their favorite movies with other anime lovers. Students will practice sketching and drawing skills using pencil, and students are welcome to ink with pen and color in their pieces by themselves after the class. This art camp is perfect for kids on spring break or summer vacation! ** During the regular school year, I recommend the on-going version of this class: https://outschool.com/classes/anime-drawing-club-studio-ghibli-SCLFQzVZ ** ⭐New to Outschool? Send me a message before you enroll!!!⭐ We will begin the camp with introductions, and students are invited to share their personal art. Each class will have a different movie theme and introduce slightly different drawing skills. At the start of class, I will allow students to choose between movie topics and show a *short* clip of the movie. For students who have seen the movie, this will be a nice memory refresher to get us all excited to draw; for students who haven't yet seen the movie, seeing the clip will serve as an introduction to fun new characters! I will teach basic composition skills, the sketching and “editing” process, human proportions, combining references, basic perspective skills, and more-- the same drawing skills professionals use, presented in a fun and accessible way. All students are invited to share their final finished work in class. After each class, I will post the reference images for student who wish to continue working on their picture. Schedule of themes: Day 1: Castle in the Sky Day 2: My Neighbor Totoro Day 3: Spirited Away Day 4: Ponyo Day 5: Kiki's Delivery Service or The Secret World of Arrietty My goal is to create a fun, creative learning environment where students can comfortably learn and share their ideas with others who also love Studio Ghibli movies, characters, and artwork. Students will bring their imagination to life, draw their favorite characters and scenes, and have the opportunity to share their art with other anime fans. This class is great place for anime lovers to practice their drawing skills. Students are free to interact with one another during class and discuss their favorite anime. No previous experience or knowledge is required. I would recommend this class to any student interested in anime culture. Students don't need to have seen every Ghibli movie. I welcome everyone who loves drawing and anime to join this class!
