Anime Drawing Techniques Ghibli Style - Weekly Art Club
What's included
1 live meeting
50 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this on-going course students will have a chance to discuss their favorite Ghibli Studio cartoons and characters while learning how to draw them with pencils and pens. We will mostly use hard and soft graphite pencils and a black gel pen or a black marker for drawing, but students are welcome to color in their pieces by themselves after the class. We will start each class by checking in with everyone, and students will be invited to share their personal art with the class (if desired). We will continue by looking at the week's reference and defining character's or scene's unique features. After that, I will show students how to create a drawing moving from basic shapes at first and slowly adding more features and details at the end. I will be checking in with the students' progress throughout each session. Students may ask the questions along the way and will be invited to share their result at the end of the class. Each class will have a unique theme and a different approach. We will be covering basics on understanding anatomy and proportions while drawing faces and posture, creating composition, developing a character, combining references, speed drawing and much more. The course is created to be fun, engaging, but also useful. You're welcome to join at any time during the course! Some students may have difficulties or move at a slower pace, but I will always be there to encourage them and give them some advice. If some students won't finish the drawing by the end of the class, they will be able to share their drawing after the class is finished and still receive a feedback. I will be announcing the theme of the class in the classroom section one week prior to each class with the reference image attached. Students might want to print out the reference, but they don't have to. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics from Nanjing Pedagogical University
Hello! My name is Karina, I am a professional educator, artist and linguist. At this point, I have over 12 years of experience teaching students of all ages, both in-person and on-line.
I'm also proud to be one of the top art teachers on Outschool with over 7000 learners taking my classes since July 2020.
I was born in Ukraine in a family of teachers and I always wanted to become a teacher myself, gratefully my dream came true! I started as a private language tutor in Russia back in 2011, and since then I have been traveling around the world and teaching language classes. I'm a TESOL certified instructor with a BA degree in Linguistics. For five years I worked as a full-time English and Russian language instructor for language schools in China and Japan and it was an amazing journey of discovering new languages, meeting amazing people and learning how to approach students with different sets of skills and backgrounds.
After living and working in Asia for over five years I came to Canada, where I continue to teach private and group classes, both in-person and on-line.
Other than studying linguistics, I received multiple certifications from School of Fine Arts in Moscow and have been working as a professional artist since 2015. My artwork has been exhibited and sold all around the globe. In the past few years, I managed to successfully combine my passion for visual arts with my love for working with children to create unique, fun and educational art courses. I specialize in Realistic Drawing, Creative Drawing, Anime Drawing and Watercolour painting.
The most important thing for me as a teacher is to make my students feel supported and valued. Each child has an awesome potential and discovering it together with my students is the greatest gift for me as a teacher.
I’m looking forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with my students.
Thank you!
See you in the classroom!
