In this camp, we will learn different fundamentals of drawing anime. The goal is to help students create their unique voice and style through step-by-step practices and tutorials by breaking down body parts and other specific anime styles into teachable segments each day. I focus on particular features rather than rendering a character drawing in each class. This camp is best suited for those starting out with little experience drawing anime. Here is the daily schedule: Day 1: Drawing Anime Girl's Head - Proportion Day 2: Drawing Anime Boy's Head - Proportion Day 3: Drawing Dandere (Girl who is Sweet but Meek) (Face and Shoulders) Day 4: Drawing an Honest Boy (Face and Shoulders) Day 5: Basic Anime Male face with Upper Body - Base "The Shy One." Day 6: Basic Anime Female face with Upper Body - Base "The Wink Day 7: Head Measures for Full Body Portions - Anime Male Base Static Pose Day 8: Full Front Body Boy - Basic Ninja - Static Pose (Kids can add their style of clothing) Day 9: Head Measures for Full Body Portions - Anime Female Base Static Pose Day 10: Full Front Body Girl - Girl with a Party Dress - Static Pose (Kids can add their style of clothing) We will learn together and celebrate our victories! We will draw in a doodling format so expect to get messy and make mistakes! This class is for those open to the challenge of pushing themselves a little further. Students will have the opportunity to: - learn some basic to intermediate techniques for drawing anime sketches - learn the basic understanding of body portions and how to apply them to your anime characters - learn art element fundamentals of drawing such as form, line, shape, space, texture, and value - learn art design fundamentals and drawing anime topics - learn to be accepting of challenges in different techniques with a compassionate inner artistic voice - learn from one another collaboratively, ask questions, show work - learn to accept getting messy and making mistakes as a way to experiment with finding their voice Each day will focus and be dedicated to various aspects of the anime art style or feature. Supplies needed each week: -Sketchbook Journal or paper -A pencil (mechanical & granite #2) -A smudger (Fingers can work) -Rulers The Flow: -Introduction Activity -Drawing Activity -Show Off Your Work What to Expect: -Each student can follow along and choose to add their unique details to their characters. I ask for them to follow along on items that might be challenging, but the student can choose their path. -Each student will have opportunities and ask for help throughout the class. I will ask how everyone is doing every 5 to 10 minutes, and they can give me a thumbs up, thumbs down, and show their work. Students can also ask for help, whether out loud or through chat. I try my best, but for the sake of time and the other students, I may help after class or give guidance via email through Outschool. -Chat is always open and must follow the Outschool safety policy to remain on. -This camp will be 80-minute each session. Each session will have one 5-minute break halfway through the lesson to sketch. I expect them to be back before the timer is up. -I play light music in the background, but if your child requests it to be turned off, I will do so. They can send me a private message. -We will not draw dynamic poses but somewhat front-face action poses to help kids understand the basic anatomy. A blank page can serve as a vast playing field for the brain. It allows kids to revise and improve upon creative thoughts and ideas. Students can use pencils, markers, crayons, and anything else to spark joy in the picture. Students should use a blank piece of paper or a journal. This class is NOT ABOUT BEING PERFECT but BEING OK TO TRY. Some Things to Mention: This type of drawing takes practice and exposure to help establish a drawing method with accountability and recognition. There is no grade or judgment in the class. I ask that each student respect each other's time and input. The main objective is the draw with compassion as they learn their style. Some experience with drawing may help the performance in the classroom. I ask that each student respect each other's time and input. I do ask that students are not late. Unfortunately, I may not admit students more than 10 minutes late because it is a time-sensitive activity. For all classes' safety, I asked that all students who are not verified show their faces at the beginning of class. Those who refuse will be placed in the waiting room or removed from the class. I appreciate your consideration in this course.
