Class Experience

Do you like anime? Do you have a fascination with Japanese culture? Are you interesting in learning more about Art, Animation, and Language? Do you wonder why some shows are "good" while others are "bad"? Then you've come to the right place. Welcome to the Anime Appreciation Watch Club. Every week we watch an episode of a provided anime, discuss the pros and cons of the story, take an objective look at the art, animation, and structure. Each week we have learner-directed session topics, with a structural overview on how to critically apprise art and animation, and allow students to flex their creativity in discussing the topics at hand.

Twice a week we will watch 30 minutes of foreign animation, followed by 20 minutes of open discussion. Prompt questions will be provided, but students will have free range to discuss anything on their mind.

Life can be hard. Being a teenager is harder. Having hobbies outside societal norms can be the hardest. This is a fun and safe forum for teens to discuss their feelings with other like-minded individuals. Anime can be a temporary soothing balm, escapism, or a way to realign your world view and face challenges head on. We will discuss all aspects of this in our bi-weekly installments.

New learners are welcome to join at any time. Our session topics are learner-directed, and our community of learners are very welcoming to new students. No supplies or materials are required from the learners themselves.
