Class Experience

Want to master the art of drawing anime but don't know where to start? Then this is the perfect class for you! In this fun and supportive weekly flexibly scheduled class we will learn the fundamentals of anime drawing. Each week breaking down a different part of the anime character - learning how do draw elements like hair, eyes, hands, faces, emotions, perspective, style, noses, body proportion and so much more! This class will equip you with the tools you need to draw an authentic looking anime character - with transferable skills that can be used over and over again in your future anime art works. It is the perfect class to learn the fun basic drawing skills needed to create anime.

Each week we will go in depth about how to draw all things that go into drawing an anime character. By just focusing on one element at a time you will be able to get to grips with how to draw in the anime style and learn the core fundamentals to creating anime drawings. I will go through the class with easy step by step instructions and we will do a few sketches each class so we can really practice the new skill we are learning. This course is perfect for complete beginners or intermediates wanting to improve and practice their style. You will see the difference in your work almost immediately!

My teaching style is very enthusiastic and I like to encourage my students by praising what they are doing well. I will also sensitively point out where there is room for improvement. The best way to learn is through doing and so my lesson will be very interactive and engaging. I will use slides and live drawing to demonstrate and teach. The students will need some plain paper, an eraser, sharpener and coloured pens or pencils, including the colour black. No required experience or knowledge is needed for this class. Just a joy and curious attitude about art, anime and how to draw!

*This is a self paced class. Each lesson will be delivered via a prerecorded video that will be uploaded into the classroom every week. Video time may vary but the work time for students will be around an hour long. Learners will then upload a photo of their art work that they complete each week in the classroom. This way I can check for proper understanding of the techniques and concepts, as well as give feedback to the students. They may share with me privately or publicly in the classroom tab. Students can also leave video clips of themselves describing their art work along with any questions they may have for me and the other students. I will also be using fun questions in the classroom relating to anime in order to create anime and art based conversation between everyone!

Why choose a self paced?
- Self Paced classes are great for students who may live in different time zones (Teacher Harriet lives in London UK)
- They are an excellent choice for families who have busy schedules, or cant commit to a specific date or time
- Students can work at their own pace. Videos can be paused and rewatched at any time

Please note: this is the same material used for the live class 'Anime 101 - Anime and Manga Drawing for Beginners!'.

Hello! My name is Harriet Horner and I am from London in the UK. I teach creative classes, including interesting and dynamic art classes, along with art history classes. They including a lot of making and creating from the students side and most importantly they are very fun!

I have a bachelors degree in Fine Art from University of the Arts London and have worked with the acclaimed artist Anish Kapoor for over 3 years. I also have my own art studio and have exhibited my art work around London and in the Venice Biennale! As well as my colourful art background I have also obtained a TEFL and have been teaching English online to foreign students from the ages of 5 - 12. I love it! But I cant wait to combine my love of art with my love of teaching and believe that my enthusiasm and knowledge in the subject will bring a great learning experience to my students.

I believe the best way to learn is through doing so I always encourage my students to get involved, get stuck in and trust in the process! I love to interact with my students and get to know them in the lessons. I am an encouraging, enthusiastic and patient teacher who will give my students the tools they need to let their creativity flow and positive reinforcement to help boost their confidence in their own creative skillset.
