Learn to proficiently use intermediate-advanced level features in Procreate Dreams, including keyframe animation, timeline adjustments, and layering techniques, to create smooth, dynamic animations. Through hands-on projects, you’ll apply core animation principles such as squash and stretch, anticipation, timing, and exaggeration to bring characters and scenes to life with greater realism and expressiveness. Develop a strong narrative structure by learning how to create storyboards and sequence animations that effectively convey character emotions and compelling storytelling. Gain precise control over timing and pacing using Procreate Dreams' timeline tools, allowing you to refine the flow, rhythm, and impact of your animations for a polished, cinematic feel. What You’ll Need: ✅ iPad with Procreate Dreams installed – The app costs a one-time purchase of about $20, with no additional fees. ✅ Stylus (Apple Pencil recommended) – For precise drawing and animation control, some features may be dependent on the Apple Pencil. ✅ A separate device for class participation – A phone, computer, or another tablet is ideal. If you prefer, you can use split-screen mode on the same iPad while working. 💡 Bonus: If you already use Procreate (the original illustration app, ~$12), you can seamlessly import your drawings into Procreate Dreams to animate them!

Stop Motion
Hi! I’m Kianu, an animator working professionally since 2015. I studied traditional art my whole life, working in charcoal and clay, and then pursued 2D Animation from my love of cartoons. These days I primarily work in 2D effects as well as a ton of Stop Motion in shows including The Tiny Chef Show, Mickey Mouse Stop Motion Specials, Teen Titans Go, and The Muppets Mayhem. I believe animation is for everyone; I focus on meeting students where they’re at in their artistic journey, and tailoring lessons for students so that they get as much out of it as they can. We should have fun while making art, because as long as we’re having fun, all the other stuff comes in time.
