New to Outschool? For $20 off your first class on please feel free to use the code: HARRIETH20 In this flexibly scheduled 10 week course students will learn how to successfully draw 10 different anime animals with step by step instructions. We will go over tips and tricks to achieve an authentic anime style drawing. Don't worry if you don't know the characters - in each lesson we will watch a short clip of these animals in action in the cartoons they belong to. This is a great way to introduce the animals and get everyone excited about recreating them at home. We will then go through step by step instructions on how to draw and colour these anime style animals - including adding backgrounds! I like to use slides and live drawing to demonstrate how to draw and give a brief background about where the characters come from and what their characteristics are. My teaching style is very enthusiastic and I like to encourage my students by praising and giving constructive feedback on their artworks. Week 1: Totoro - the forrest spirit animal from the Studio Ghibli anime movie 'My Neighbour Totoro' Week 2: Charmander the lizard like character from the popular series Pokemon Week 3: Luna - a guardian cat from the Sailor Moon series Week 4: Kirara a small kitten from the anime/manga series 'Inuyasha' Week 5: Candy the lamb pixie from the popular anime series 'Glitter Force' Week 6: Happy - a talking, flying blue cat from the anime series 'Fairy Tail' Week 7: Hamtaro an adorable hamster from the anime series 'Hamtaro' Week 8: Pikachu from the wildly popular 'Pokemon' Week 9: Appa - a sky flat-tailed flying bison from the popular anime series 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Week 10: Haku the White Dragon from the Studio Ghibli anime movie 'Spirited Away' *This is a flexible schedule class. Each lesson will be delivered via a prerecorded video that will be uploaded into the classroom every week. Video time may vary but the work time for students will be around an hour long. Learners will then upload a photo of their art work that they complete each week in the classroom. This way I can check for proper understanding of the techniques and concepts, as well as give feedback to the students. They may share with me privately or publicly in the classroom tab. Each student is required to comment on each others' art works with positive and constructive words in order to to develop a sense of community in the class. They will also leave video clips of themselves describing their art work along with any questions they may have for me and the other students. I will also be using fun questions in the classroom relating to anime in order to create anime and art based conversation between the students! Why choose a flex class? - Flex classes are great for students who may live in different time zones (Teacher Harriet lives in London UK) - They are an excellent choice for families who have busy schedules, or cant commit to a specific date or time - Students can work at their own pace. Videos can be paused and rewatched at any time Please note: this is the same material used for the live classes 'Animals of Anime!' If you would prefer the live version of this class you can find it at this link: https://outschool.com/classes/animals-of-anime-lets-draw-some-cute-and-fun-anime-animals-uep57eJM#usylp8iN5A The best way to learn is through doing and so my lesson will be very interactive and engaging. I have a bachelors degree in Fine Art from University of the Arts London and have worked with the acclaimed artist Anish Kapoor for over 3 years. I also have my own art studio and have exhibited my art work around London and in the Venice Biennale! As well as my colourful art background I have also obtained a TEFL and have been teaching English online to foreign students from the ages of 5 - 12. I love it! But I cant wait to combine my love of art with my love of teaching and believe that my enthusiasm and knowledge in the subject will bring a great learning experience to my students.
I believe the best way to learn is through doing so I always encourage my students to get involved, get stuck in and trust in the process! I love to interact with my students and get to know them in the lessons. I am an encouraging, enthusiastic and patient teacher who will give my students the tools they need to let their creativity flow and positive reinforcement to help boost their confidence in their own creative skillset.
