Don't worry if you don't know the characters - in each lesson we will watch a short clip of these animals in action in the cartoons they belong to. This is a great way to introduce the animals and get everyone excited about recreating them at home. We will then go through step by step instructions on how to draw these anime style animals with discussion throughout about animals, anime, manga and drawing. I like to use slides to demonstrate how to draw and give a brief background about where the characters come from and what their characteristics are. My teaching style is very enthusiastic and I like to encourage my students by praising what they are doing well and sensitively pointing out where they could improve. The best way to learn is through doing and so my lesson will be very interactive and engaging. The students will need some plain paper and coloured pens or pencils, including the colour black. They are also welcome to use paints also if they would like to colour in with those. No required experience or knowledge is needed for this class. Just a joy and curious attitude about art, anime, animals and how to draw! After the 20th animal the class will loop back round to animal number 1 again. So no matter when you join, you will get a chance to draw them all!
