US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
In this course, students will have a stellar time developing their star-gazing skills by learning about the constellations and the myths and legends behind them! Each week we will go over four new constellations together, discussing the stories (mythological or historical) behind their namings, tips on how to find them, and what times of the year they are visible. This class is the perfect starting point for all inquisitive young stargazers! Please see below for our class curriculum: Week One: Lepus (The Rabbit), Ursa Major (The Great Bear), Ursa Minor (The Little Bear), Aries (The Sheep) Week Two: Cancer (The Crab), Capricornus (The Goat), Leo (The Lion), Piscis Austrinus (The Great Fish) Week Three: Canis Major (The Great Dog), Canis Minor (The Small Dog), Draco (The Dragon), Delphinus (The Dolphin) Week Four: Lupus (The Wolf), Pegasus (The Winged Horse), Monoceros (The Unicorn), Aquila (The Eagle) Students will also make their very own Star Wheel, or Planisphere, which will serve as a map in their astrological explorations. This Star Wheel will assist students in finding the constellations they learn about in class in the night sky.
