Description
Class Experience
Students will learn about the important roles that animals have played throughout history. We will talk about one animal from five continents and time period. Topics will include the camel in North African trade, the Jaguar in ancient Incan Culture, the elephant in India during the age of British Empire, the horse in the American West and Dogs in European domestic life. Students will be able to discuss a historical moment with relevancy and complexity. Students will learn a new exciting approach and strengthen or deepen a love of history. Students will develop argumentation and discussion skills by illustrating their understanding and interest in the animal that they select for their final project. Feedback will be provided on the assignment: grammar, content, thesis and originality.
Students will pick on animal if their choice and write 3-10 sentences on that animals role in a historical moment.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Written feedback will be provided on the assignment: grammar, content, thesis and originality.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
