Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will see a map of the continent and country where the animal we are studying lives.
Students will learn basic facts about each animal like what it eats, who its predators are, and what its family life is like. We will also talk about the little-known tidbits of information about each creature.
With teacher guidance and modeling, students will use their creativity to write a poem based on an example the teacher gives or make a drawing, painting, or craft inspired by that week's animal.
Students will have the opportunity to share their writing and art with each other at the end of class.
I was a public school classroom teacher for over thirty years and hold a master's degree in Integrating the Arts Into the Curriculum. I've had a lot of success with classes on Outschool where we integrate science, art, and poetry so I decided to develop a club so I can see some of "my kids" on a regular basis. This is an AMAZING community of engaged learners!
Suggested Club Supplies: -Drawing Paper -Pencil, eraser, crayons, markers, colored pencils, or oil pastels -Teacher-provided poetry template (sometimes) Occasionally we may need another type of supply like glue or paint and I will let you know ahead of time.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
