Class experience
US Grade 3 - 6
Do you love animals? Have you ever wondered how we take care of animals in the zoo and in the wild? As a former zoo keeper and animal educator I love sharing my passion for animals and the environment! Join me as we dive into the animal kingdom and learn about the animal's habitat, adaptations, diet, and ways we care for them in the zoo. We will learn about what it's like to be a zoo keeper for a day, explore other careers involving animals, and then talk about conservation and the...
Learners will learn about over 40 different animals. They will learn about adaptations, habitats, ways to take care of animals in the wild and in the zoo setting, what it is like to be a zoo keeper as well as other jobs with animals, and different types of conservation. They will use research skills, creativity, deductive reasoning, and writing to enhance their learning and retention of the topics.
I have a Bachelors of Science in Biology where I studied zoology, ecology, and animal behavior, among other things. I have worked as a zoo keeper with animals including elephants, lions, giraffes, flamingos, siamangs, lemurs, tortoises, snakes, monkeys, orangutans, amur leopards, and red pandas. I have been a zoo camp instructor as well as an animal, science, and environment educator at Walt Disney World.
