Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
This class is great for young animal enthusiasts. This 8-week FLEX course teaches students about 8 different habitats and a variety of the animals that live there. They will learn through video lessons, crafts, and quizzes.

This flex course will cover:
What is a habitat?
8 Different habitats around the world
4 Animals that live in each habitat
Each animal's key features

The course will cover the following habitats:
Week 1: Polar
Week 2: Desert
Week 3: Grasslands
Week 4: Mountains
Week 5: Tropical RainForest
Week 6: Forest
Week 7: Freshwater
Week 8: Ocean

Each week, students will be provided with a series of recorded videos that cover the habitat and four animals that live in that habitat. When learning about an animal, we cover its habitat, key features, diet, and where it lives. Students will learn through the videos, quizzes, and weekly crafts.

Each week's content is posted in the online classroom on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Mondays: a video will be added to the classroom covering the habitat for that week. We will create a craft to represent that habitat.

Wednesday's: a video is shared teaching students about four animals that live in that week's habitat. For example, in week one we cover a Polar habitat and learn about polar bears, harp seals, arctic foxes, and emperor penguins. Students are provided with a picture of each animal to cut and add to their habitat craft. They are also given 6 pages of colouring and four flashcards, one for each animal.

Fridays: students gain access to a quiz that is posted on Nearpod. This quiz helps students to recap what they have learned each week. Students also receive a video showing how to create two animal crafts from that week's animals. During week one, we painted a polar bear and created an emperor penguin from card.

This course is really fun, engaging, and full of hands-on activities.

Hello, it's lovely to meet you! I'm Catherine, a qualified primary teacher and home educator from the UK.

I am incredibly passionate about encouraging the next generation to be proactive with conservation and protecting our planet. You'll see many of my classes are themed around my love for animals, endangered species, habitats, and conservation.

Young students care deeply about our world, are enthusiastic and keen to learn about sustaining our planet. My classes are aimed mostly at 4-6 or 5-7-year-olds for this very reason.

As a qualified primary school teacher and ESL teacher, outside of my animal-themed classes, I also offer a range of fun, activity-led classes focused on phonics, book clubs, early math, and ESL.

Outside of teaching, I love nothing more than spending time in nature with my family. I have two children, 6 and 4, whom I home educate with my husband. We spend as much time as possible visiting nature reserves, local wildlife parks, and hiking with our dog. My DSLR camera is always on hand to capture the incredible sights we see, from migrating birds in winter to summer-blooming flowers.

Nature and the world around us is a huge part of our life. With my classes, I help young learners with a passion for our incredible world, by answering their questions, providing cross-curricular activities, and extending their prior knowledge.

My live lessons are often discussion-based within a relaxed and friendly environment where everyone has the opportunity to participate. Flex classes offer learners an opportunity to study the content at a pace or time zone that suits them. Due to them being no live lessons, these classes are jam-packed full of cross-curricular activities for students to enjoy and share with their peers.

Interested in finding out more?! GREAT!

Come along and join one of my classes below. I cannot wait to meet you.
