Description
Class Experience
In this one-time class, we'll read stories like "What Pet Should I Get" by Dr. Seuss and "Some Pets", by Angela Diterlizzi, meet the pets learners bring to class (stuffies are OK too), share how we care for our pets, engage in pet themed activities and work on a sorting game in class! Little learners can build great listening, observation and creative thinking skills during storytime, asking questions and using their imagination. In fact, did you know that reading aloud to kids has clear...
Students will listen to stories and ask and answer questions throughout the readings, practice taking turns talking, listening and sharing observations about which animals make good pets. We will also work on sorting and classifying objects (wild animals versus animals as pets) which can help learners begin to notice how items are alike and different, and creates an awareness that is helpful for math learning.
2 files available upon enrollmentPlease print out the 2 part (4 pages in total) printable provided for enrolled learners, pets/wildanimalsort1 and pet/wildanimalsort2. Please cut apart the 10 pet animal and the 10 wild animal pictures before class so your learner will be ready to sort the animal pictures once class begins. No printer? No Problem. If your learner has a variety of toy animals they play with at home, we can use those to sort as we talk about pets versus animals in the wild.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Because of the age of the class I recommend a grown up be within "ear-shot" to help with any technical hiccups (mic and video) that might come up.
