Animal Science in Spanish

In this 8-week, live course, students will learn about beginning animal science while using beginner Spanish vocabulary. This class will provide every learner with ample opportunity to practice speaking the language and to learn about several types of animals. 

Week 1: Introductions - Students will learn how to greet people, and ask/answer "What is your name?" as well as "How are you?" and "What is your favorite animal?"
Week 2: Animals - Students will learn the names of several common animals. 
Week 3: Verb ESTAR - to be (state of being) : Used to describe animals
Week 4: Locations: Where are the animals (currently)?
Week 5: Verb SER - to be (state of being): Used to describe animals
Week 6: Locations: Where are the animals from?
Week 7: Colors and Adjectives: Used to describe animals
Week 8: Verb GUSTAR - to like, We will discuss what animals we like and don’t like using GUSTAR and vocabulary from previous classes. 

Since playing is the best way for learning to really stick with children, that is how I model my teaching style. We will use a combination of flashcards, pictures, songs, games, and conversations to reinforce the material. 

This is a basic level class, appropriate for students with little to no experience with the language or animals.

I feel that children should be encouraged to follow their passions. Children need to know that they can have what they want for their lives if they have the correct tools and motivation to get there. I hope to help build confidence in my students and to give them some of those tools. I also believe that not every child learns the same way. Education is not a one-size-fits-all experience. I look forward to helping your child learn how they learn.

While I offer an extensive collection of class content choices, my specialty is meeting students where they’re at and making the course material accessible to all students, regardless of the topic. I love to be silly with my students and encourage interaction in all of my classes. I want learners to feel at ease and safe to be themselves in my classroom. My small class sizes and relaxed, encouraging teaching style allow me to tailor my classes to each student’s needs and learning style, resulting in learners walking away from class confident and smiling.
