A great social group to find other enthusiastic animal readers. During each meeting, we will begin by reading pieces of a chapter from 'The Wind in the Willows' by Kenneth Graham and A.A. Milne's 'Winnie the Pooh'. Both are entertaining novels filled with compelling themes such as friendship and adventure. We will go over vocabulary words from the reading, break down literary elements such as symbolism and character development, and have some fun discussion time. After our reading time, we will have a lesson helping with creative writing. This will include a writing tip, the next step in the Plot Pyramid, and a small lesson to help elevate our own animal stories. This will be followed by some personal writing time (15 minutes), after which students may share their work with the class. Sharing time can include any animal artwork the students may have done during the week as well. Following our sharing time, we will look at nature/animal safety tips, facts, and fun... We will end each meeting with a popular 'spotlight' animal story that works as a recommendation for further readings. The classroom page will be actively filled with activities. These are optional games/ worksheets created for entertainment purposes. There will also be threads opened for further discussions on favorite fandoms involving animals. Students are free to message me during the week for one-on-one feedback or writing help.
