What's included
1 live meeting
1 in-class hoursClass Experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 1
During this class, students will learn to identify the different groups of animals based on animal classifications. We will cover basic animal groups such as mammals, reptiles/amphibians, bugs, and birds. In order to help the students understand the topic better, we will have a live mammal, reptile, amphibian, and bug join us in the class. Animal ambassadors act as great examples of the topics I discuss and help keep students engaged. Additionally, we will have a picture and video-filled slideshow to help students understand each animal group. My teaching style is fun and upbeat and I want students to feel inspired to ask questions and discuss what they're learning with the class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to classify animals into specific groups based on the animal's anatomy. For each animal group, we will discuss and exemplify the following:
Mammals- fur, live birth, vertebrate, warm-blooded, land/water-dwelling, etc
Reptiles/Amphibians- scales, cold-blooded, vertebrates, egg-laying, land-dwelling, etc
Birds- feathers, warm-blooded, egg-laying, vertebrates, ground/sky dwelling, etc
Bugs/Insects: Invertebrates, cold-blooded, egg-laying, a segmented body, 6 legs, etc
We will have animal ambassadors from these animal groups joining us during the presentation to act as a visual for the anatomical features of animals that we discuss.
