Did you know that seals get seasick on boats? Did you know that sloths grow algae on their fur to help them blend in with trees? Do you have a child who is constantly telling you what they have learned about animals? This is the class for them! In this class, students will have the chance to show their enthusiasm to their classmates and share what they know about the amazing world of animals. Each class, I will also bring some fun facts of my own to teach to the students in a brief lesson. In class, we will... 1) Introduce ourselves and our favorite animals 2) Each student will have a turn to share a fun fact (or a few) that they have prepared in advance while their classmates listen. The time for each student will vary based on the size of the class but each student will have a turn. Students will be encouraged to ask each other questions and we will do research if needed to satisfy our curiousity! 3) I will share a brief animal profile, a case study of a cool animal, or several fun facts. Each class will be unique and classes do not build upon each other so students are welcome to join at any time. Topics of discussion are mostly determined by students with the facts they bring each week. However, the schedule of animals that I plan to cover is below. 4/16 - Axolotls 4/23 - Pink Fairy Armadillo 4/30 - Echidnas and Platypus 5/7 - Mantis Shrimp 5/14 - Tardigrades 5/21 - Proboscis Monkey
Learning Goals
Students will practice communication and social skills while exploring their love of animals.
