As a Flex class we will be covering one chapter per week. The student will be responsible for reading the chapter on their own time outside of class. Each Monday at 9am EST I will send out a slideshow/video via PowerPoint presentation discussing the chapter and the social implications behind them. This class is taught in English.
I have a degree in History as well as passed my teaching test in Massachusetts. I use my love of History and facts to help children understand that history is conceived of real people who did real things. I found Social Studies class boring as a child because the teachers concentrated mostly on dates and statistics rather than the humans behind the events. I use the historical documents and primary sources to bring the past to life.
Homework Offered
There will be weekly handouts and quizzes. There will also be essays written by the students about political leaders at the time and comparison essays written about leaders or situations about today.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
The student will be graded on the understanding of the material and not personal opinions on political theory.Grades Offered
This is a fictional story based on the Russian revolution. The students will be doing some of their own research into this time period.
