Description

Class Experience

**To participate in this class, students will need to have Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition (PC, Xbox, Switch, PS4). This class is NOT  compatible with Java.

Students will do more than just read "Animal Farm," they will immerse themselves in the story through gaming. Each week, students will read an assigned portion of the book, "Animal Farm," by George Orwell. Students will participate in various discussions in the classroom as well as activities within Minecraft.

I have a bachelor's degree in writing and journalism. I worked as a journalist for over five years and won several awards during my career. I have taught in homeschool co-ops and taught my own children to read and write. Before changing my degree to writing, my study focus was on education. I have always been a lover of books and it brings me joy to share that passion with others. I play Minecraft with my family on a daily basis, so I will have the ability to play right along with the kids during class time.

Students will need to have a copy of "Animal Farm," by George Orwell and Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition (PC and Xbox only). This class is NOT  compatible with Java.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:Kahoot

No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.

Animal Farm does depict some violence (animals killing other animals). In Minecraft, while students will have the ability to kill various mobs, we will be playing in Creative Mode, so students will not be required or encouraged to kill mobs.
