Get ready to embark on an exciting journey into the wild world of animals! Welcome to Animal Explorers: An Adventure in Research and Writing, where we will dive into the fascinating realm of the animal kingdom together. Over the course of four weeks, we will not only learn about the incredible diversity of creatures that share our planet, but also unleash our inner researchers and writers. We will meet twice a week to explore, research, and write about our favorite animals. We will guide the students through the research and writing process step by step. By the end of the four weeks together, students will have crafted an animal report. From the depths of the oceans to the highest treetops, every corner of the Earth is a habitat for a unique and extraordinary creature, and we're about to become experts on them! Week 1: Introduction to the Animal Research Project Day 1: Interactive discussion on the diversity of the animal kingdom, different habitats, and adaptations. Brainstorming session for choosing an animal to research. Day 2: Introduction to research skills and tools. Beginning research on animals of choice and note-taking practice. Week 2: Crafting Our Animal Reports Day 1: Introduction to the essay structure; Introduction, Body, and Conclusion. Brainstorming key points for our animal reports. Continuing our research and organizing our notes. Day 2: Guided writing session on the introduction and first body paragraph. Writing our introduction and first body paragraphs. Week 3: Crafting Our Animal Reports Day 1: Guided writing session on body paragraphs. Writing the body paragraphs of our animal reports. Day 2: Examining the conclusions of animal reports. Guided writing session on concluding paragraphs. Writing the concluding paragraphs of our animal reports. Week 4: Finishing Touches Day 1: Editing and revising strategies; improving clarity and coherence. Guided writing session on editing and revising for clarity and coherence. Editing and revising our animal reports. Day 2: Animal Diagrams and Presentations- Exploring diagrams of animals. Creating a diagram for our animal reports. Presenting our animal reports to the class.
