30 mins in-class hoursHomework
1-2 hours per week. Before class, students should prepare 3-5 facts about any animal of their choosing. They should bring an example of their animal to class. This could be a sketch, picture, stuffed animal, live animal... Students should practice telling someone in their family about the animal they choose.Class Experience
US Grade 2 - 3
This class is designed to inspire learners to dig deeper into their knowledge about different animals and to share their learning with others. Prior to class, learners should select any animal they’d like to learn more about/teach others about. Students should study about their animal and prepare a few facts about the animal. They should also bring a picture or example of the animal (picture, stuffed animal, live animal, drawing of the animal...). When your child registers for this class, they will have access to a printable planning tool for gathering information about the animal they choose if they would like. Each student will have a few minutes to tell us about their animal. Learners will have the opportunity to ask questions (we will discuss ways to respond if you do not know the answer). Please have your learner practice telling about their animal prior to class. This class would be a great extension of a homeschool or independent study of an animal prior to class. Learners are welcome to upload their projects to the classroom after class. To start class, I will share facts about an animal along with an example of the animal. I will model speaking about an animal, answering questions, and using my visual aid to show details. Then, I will encourage learners as they share their amazing animal facts with us. * I have another session of this class for 4-6 year olds. If you have a 6 year old, please choose whichever class you feel would be the best fit for your child.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Families,
My name is Danielle Day. I have a passion for inspiring young learners! I have a degree in Elementary Education. I have taught in both homeschool and public elementary school settings over the the last 18 years. I have also taught ESL online. Aside from teaching, I have coached basketball and a Building Brick League Team. I think learning should be authentic, engaging, and fun! My husband and I have 3 sons. As a family, we enjoy playing games, reading, riding our bikes, building with building bricks, and exploring nature.
- If you do not see dates listed for a class, that does not mean that I'm no long teaching the class or that it isn't awesome. It just means that right now, I have more class ideas than available hours in the day. I try to balance opening a variety of classes and leaving myself some time to be able to accommodate requested classes. Please never hesitate to send me a message requesting that I open more sessions of a class!
I hope to meet your learner(s) in class soon!
Have a great day,
Mrs. Day
