In this class, students will learn fun and interesting facts about chameleons! Students will begin class activating their prior knowledge by discussing what they already know about chameleons and asking questions by saying what they want to learn. They will begin studying the chameleon's physical traits, habitat, diet and other facts with the teacher, who will show pictures and videos to keep the students engaged. To extend their knowledge, the teacher will ask higher order thinking questions and scaffold appropriately to fit the needs of all students in the class. To check for comprehension, the teacher will ask questions to the students while they are working on their craft. Once they finish their craft, they may show it to their peers and teacher.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, prospective families and learners! My name is Regi Wood. I am a 30 year old teacher, wife, and mother to a little boy. I hold a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and am certified to teach all subject K-6, as well as Reading and ELA through 12th grade. I have 8 years of classroom experience in kindergarten and first grade.
As an elementary teacher, I am well versed in all subject areas, so each class I create will include student based objectives. Although I cover a variety of subjects and topics, you can rest assured that your learner will have a great time and learn valuable material. My class listings include core academics, science classes and most recently, history classes for young learners.
I believe that when children feel safe and can have fun in class, they are more willing to involve themselves in the learning process. I also believe that being a teacher means assessing the needs of my students and adjusting my instruction to fit them. My teaching methods in my Mississippi classroom, as well as my online classroom, are constantly changing because each group of students is uniquely wonderful! Each student brings their individuality to our classes, which is so valuable and important.
My classroom is rich with learning opportunities for each student. Every student who comes into my class will feel safe, included, encouraged and valued. I offer a variety of classes for different age groups, and I will always work hard to make sure each student's voice is heard in the classroom. Whether the students are 3 or 13, I hope that they will enjoy our time together. I love what I do, and I can't wait to share my classroom with my amazing students! I use various technologies, movement, hands on activities and verbal/non-verbal cues to help students retain what they learn in my classes. We may also sing a song or two. :)
I hope to see you soon!
- Mrs. Regi 💛

Class Policies:
1. If a class only has one learner enrolled prior to that start if class, I will contact the parents to confirm they want to continue class 24 hours before class is scheduled to begin. Parents will have a choice for their student to learn one on one or transfer to a new section. I will follow Outschool's guidelines for refunds.
2. I will admit students to the classroom right at the scheduled time, even if not every student is present. If there is a technical issue and I cannot enter the classroom, I will contact parents through the classroom page and I will also contact Outschool.
3. I will always finish class as close to the scheduled amount of time as possible. Depending on low enrollment numbers or extended discussion for very active speakers, the class may run a few minutes short or long.
4. If no students are present in the classroom when class is meant to begin, I will wait 10 minutes before exiting. Once I exit the classroom, the class will be considered finished.
5. Classroom expectations are as follows:
i. Students will NOT be muted in the classroom, unless there is excessive background noise that is disruptive to the learning of others. I will always go over class expectations (raising your hand to speak, listening to the speaker, etc) in the beginning of class. I use everything that happens in class as a learning opportunity for students. When they leave my classroom, they will feel included, involved and respected as a student and a person!
ii. Students are expected to participate as much as they can or feel comfortable. If a student is too shy to raise their hand, I will not force them to speak. If your student needs to stand up for their lesson or bring a stuffed animal or toy with them to class to make them more comfortable, that's okay too! I want your child to have FUN and LEARN in my classroom, so as long as they are engaging in the lesson, it doesn't matter to me what that looks like! :)
iii. I do not mind if a sibling watches the class; however, if they want to participate, do the craft with us or engage in the lesson in any way, I ask that you please sign them up and pay the price per learner for them as well. I appreciate it!
iiii. If you'd like to watch a replay of your child's class, please message me for access to it.
