Animal Drawing: Realistic Colored Pencil Bird Art
Class experience
In this ongoing realistic colored pencil animal drawing class, students will learn to draw a variety birds. Students will learn how to draw a cockatiel, pygmy falcon chick, hummingbird, snowy owl, cardinal, and blue jay using colored pencils. Cockatiel (Full Body) 1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a cockatiel bird (full body). 2. Students will learn techniques for blending, applying, and layering colored pencil. 3. Students will learn techniques to create saturated colors using colored pencil. 4. Students will learn techniques for burnishing colored pencil to make it look smooth. 5. Students will learn techniques to draw rope texture using colored pencil. 6. Students will learn a few facts about cockatiel birds. Pygmy Falcon Chick (Full Body) 1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a pygmy falcon chick (full body). 2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast. 3. Students will learn shading techniques for layering colored pencil to create feather texture and depth. 4. Students will learn techniques to create wood texture using colored pencil. 5. Students will learn a few facts about pygmy falcons. Hummingbird (Full Body) 1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a hummingbird (full body). 2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast. 3. Students will learn techniques to create color gradients using colored pencil. 4. Students will learn techniques to draw hummingbird feather texture. 5. Students will learn a few facts about hummingbirds. Snowy Owl (Full Body) 1. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast. 3. Students will learn techniques to create a balanced composition using positive and negative space. 4. Students will learn a few facts about cardinals. Blue Jay (Full Body) 1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a blue jay (full body). 2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast. 3. Students will learn techniques to create a cohesive drawing using a limited color palette. 4. Students will learn techniques to create layered feathers and feather patterns. 5. Because of how detailed these drawings are, there is a good chance students will need to finish their work outside of the designated class time.Assessments Offered
