**Nintendo Online membership and at least one day playing Animal Crossing New Horizons required for participation in this social club** (more information on these requirements is in the materials section of this class listing) Have you worked hard to make your Animal Crossing island beautiful and want to show it off? Are you new to Animal Crossing and want advice on how to start making your island yours? Are you looking for ways to improve your island rating? Or are you just looking for more friends to play Animal Crossing with? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this social club is for you! In this ongoing social club, students will get the opportunity every week to either give a tour of their island or tour someone else's island. During island tours, learners can give and receive advice about improving their islands, see how others arrange their island, meet new villagers, and more! A few days before we meet each week, I will select two learners to give tours on their islands in our next meeting. I will message the learner's grown-up to let them know they have been selected as one of that week's hosts along with instructions for hosting. If your learner does not want to give an island tour that week (or any week!) that is okay! Willingness to be a host is not a requirement for participating in class. Just let me know your preferences and I will choose a different learner to host that week. On the day of class, I split the class into two groups. One group will join one host on their island and the other group, the other host. Halfway through class, I will ask the hosts to send their groups home, get a new Dodo code, and then the groups will switch hosts. This class does use breakout rooms to ensure there will be no confusion about who is in which group. For safety reasons, I will be signed into the meeting with two devices so I can monitor both breakout rooms. By monitoring both breakout rooms, I will be able to join discussions, give my own advice for island improvement, and ensure all learners are respecting their hosts. I will also occasionally host tours on my own five star island, depending on class size and learner interest in hosting. I keep a list of learners in each section with notes on who has and hasn't hosted and who does and doesn't want to host to ensure that everyone who wants at turn at hosting gets one. When everyone has had a chance to host, I will mix things up and go back through my list. Here is the breakdown of how each class will go: 0:00-0:05 Introduction of new learners, reminder of behavior expectations/island visitor etiquette 0:05-0:25 Learners are split into breakout rooms, first island tours take place! 0:25-0:30 Groups switch places 0:30-0:50 Second round of island tours 0:50-0:55 Host islands closed, wrapping up, goodbyes
Learning Goals
Students will how to be both good island hosts and island visitors on Animal Crossing. They will also get ideas for their own islands based on peer discussion and what they see on each other's islands.

Supply List
Students are required to have a Nintendo Switch, Animal Crossing New Horizons (ACNH), and a Nintendo Switch Online membership to be part of this social club. They must also be past day one of the ACNH game. The Nintendo Switch Online membership is $19.99 for a full year and allows members to visit other Animal Crossing islands through the online network. The airport (required to visit other islands) is not unlocked until partway through your first day on your Animal Crossing island. Once the airport is unlocked and they have a Nintendo Switch Online membership, your learner will be able to fully participate in this class.

Hello! My name is Rose Bradway. I am excited to meet you! My class offerings include book clubs, writing classes, and more. As a lifelong bookwyrm and writer, I'm passionate about helping my students learn the joy of discovering new worlds in books and creating their own through writing.
I have a bachelor's in counseling (with a minor in Koine Greek) and a master's in theological studies. During the course of my academic career, I took classes on history, philosophy, psychology, education, and even a computer science class. In my three years on Outschool, I have helped my students discover a love for reading, gain confidence in their writing, and more. I have taught in a variety of settings from online to in person with any number of students from one to ten or more. I enjoy teaching students of all ages but especially middle school and high school.
The world is a big, wide, beautiful place. I aim to foster curiosity and a sense of wonder in my students as we discuss stories and write them. My philosophy behind teaching is that everyone is capable of learning if given the opportunity. I plan my lessons for maximum student engagement. I want my students to love learning and discovering new things. I am their guide, their encouragement, and the person for them to fall back on when they get stuck. I hope each of my students can leave each class excited to engage the world around them. In my free time I love reading, writing, exploring used book stores, and going on hikes. I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!
