In this ongoing class we draw the anatomical details of a variety of animals, learning about their specific functions, appearance and position as well as some behavioral facts about the given animal. This class combines learning drawing skills with knowledge of animals. I have a second camera showing my own instructive drawing, and following my lead, learners will create a drawing showing the various organs, skeleton and other characteristics of each different animal. We will also be writing the names and other factual information on the drawing as we go along. Learners are encouraged to upload their finished drawings to the classroom after class. An interest in animals, anatomy and drawing is needed, but no other previous experience or knowledge is required to join this class. Topics we cover: Week of Dec 12: Squid Bee Seahorse Frog Mouse Mosquito Octopus Butterfly Bat Cat Spider Snail

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a professional artist and art teacher living and working in Sheffield, UK
Born in Denmark I studied Graphic design and illustration before moving to the UK where I received a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art, Painting.
I believe that no matter what you want to express with your own personal art work, the starting point is pretty much always the same. Using your eyes to truly observe is the fundamental key, even if your initial goal is to be able to draw from memory. When meeting a new student, I like to find out what they are interested in and incorporate this in the learning experience, for example if the learner loves Pokemon or similar popular characters, the inspiration from these can provide an excellent variety of skills in creating shapes, textures, and other effects which can be transferred to many other drawing subjects the future. I also like to include discussion of the drawing skills and using discussion to feed the creativity of the learner (e.g. this may lead to bringing in background elements, action, or a backstory to the image).
Art is not only a fun pastime, but also a great way for children to build confidence, creativity and increased concentration.
There is no right or wrong in art, but continued learning and practice of some basic techniques and materials will enhance your ability to make constructive choices in the process of making, and communicate with feeling and true personal style. The foundations will always set you up well for continuing your creative development and advancing your skills.
I have extensive knowledge and experience of drawing techniques, illustration, printmaking and art materials. During lessons I will be drawing alongside the learner, using a second camera for easy explaining and demonstrating.
