What's included
1 live meeting
45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one-time class, students will learn WHAT TO DO if they ever unexpectedly ENCOUNTER A WILD ANIMAL that would typically be found in NORTH AMERICAN BACKCOUNTRY. Animals have been known to attack hikers, campers, people visiting national parks, and day campers/people picnicking. Attacks have even been known to happen in towns and cities (wild animals do not care about city boundaries!). Nature and wild life are amazing, but they can also be unpredictable, knowing what to do in an unexpected animal encounter situation is a highly valuable life skill that should be had by everyone! We will discuss: -How the animals hunt and what they like to eat (it is important to understand animal behaviours). - How to avoid triggering an attack, if possible, in the first place. - What to do if the animal tries to attack. We will focus on North American wildlife animals (that are also found around the world). We will learn how to protect ourselves against the following animals: - Black Bears - Grizzly Bears - Cougars (Mountain Lions) - Wolves - Coyotes (Prairie Wolves) - Moose - Bison Students can expect an informative PowerPoint guided discussion, filled with imagery, short video clips, and LOTS of discussion. This important survival class requires no prior learning experience.
