In this one-time art class, students will learn to draw a portrait of a West Highland Terrier dog (Westie), using pencil (head to chest).
Class experience
In this one-time drawing class, students will learn to draw a realistic portrait of a West Highland Terrier dog (head to chest), using pencil. Students are welcome to come to class with fun facts to share about dogs if they want. I will also share a few fun facts about these animals throughout class while we draw. During class, I will demonstrate each step for students and have students complete that step along with me. My classroom is a calm, fun, and creative environment where...
1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a West Highland Terrier dog (head to chest). 2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast. 3. Students will learn techniques for drawing realistic fur texture using a toothpick and eraser. 4. Students will learn techniques for shading white fur using a pencil and blending tools. 5. Students will learn a few facts about dogs.
Homework Offered
Because of how detailed these drawings are, there is a good chance students will need to finish sketches outside of the designated class time.Assessments Offered
Students will be assessed throughout class and at the end of class through questions and/or sharing of drawings.Grades Offered
