Animal Art: Realistic Baby Harp Seal Sketch
Class experience
In this one-time drawing class, students will learn to draw a realistic portrait of baby harp seal, using pencil. Students are welcome to come to class with fun facts to share about seals if they want. I will also share a few fun facts about these animals throughout class while we draw. During class, I will demonstrate each step for students and have students complete that step along with me. 1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a harp seal. 2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast. 3. Students will learn techniques for drawing realistic white fur texture using pencil and an eraser. 4. Students will learn techniques for creating contrast in their art, using pencil. 5. Students will learn a few facts about seals.
Homework Offered
Because of how detailed these drawings are, there is a good chance students will need to finish sketches outside of the designated class time.Assessments Offered
Students will be assessed throughout class and at the end of class through questions and/or sharing of drawings.Grades Offered
1 file available upon enrollment-Paper -Everyday pencil or drawing pencils -Everyday eraser and/or kneaded eraser -Blending tool (blending stumps, tissue, Q-tips, or you can just use your fingers if you don't have any of the previously listed supplies)
