Animal Art: Leopard Gecko Colored Pencil Drawing

In this one-time art class, students will learn to draw a realistic leopard gecko lizard using colored pencil.

Class Experience

1. Students will learn techniques to sketch a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a leopard gecko lizard (full body) using pencil. 
2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast using colored pencil.
3. Students will learn techniques for creating scaly texture using colored pencils.
4. Students will learn a few facts about geckos.
Because of how detailed this drawing is, there is a good chance students will need to finish their work outside of the designated class time.
 1 file available upon enrollment
REQUIRED: -Paper -Everyday pencil -Everyday eraser and/or kneaded eraser -Colored Pencils: yellow, orange, brown, green (light and dark green if possible), black, white OPTIONAL: -Baby oil, Q-tips and/or cotton balls (to blend colored pencils)
Students will be assessed throughout class and at the end of class through questions and/or sharing of drawings.
1 hour 20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please be aware that this course uses materials that may be harmful to your student if used inappropriately.  If you think your student may use any class materials inappropriately and/or potentially cause harm, please provide adult supervision for your student.
