Students will be exposed to a variety of artistic media and practice using the media.
None, but if your child does not finish a project, they may want to complete it after class. Paintings will need time to dry outside of class. Also, clay sculptures will need time to dry outside of class. Students may choose to paint them a few days later when they are dry.
Weeks: 1) Canvas, acrylic paint in a variety of colors, assorted paintbrushes, glitter (optional), cotton balls (optional), water cup, old rags, table cover (to protect surfaces) 2) Canvas, acrylic/watercolor paint in a variety of colors, assorted paintbrushes, water cup, old rags, table cover (to protect surfaces), permanent marker (if using watercolor only) 3) Drawing paper, drawing pencils, high-quality eraser 4) Drawing paper, markers/crayons/colored pencils, scissors, glue, construction paper, ocean-themed extras like stickers and pictures (optional) 5) Drawing paper, ruler, extra paper, pencil, markers/crayons/colored pencils OR canvas paper/panel, brushes, paint, water cup, old rags, and table cover (to protect surfaces) 6) Drawing paper, glue, scissors, markers/crayons/colored pencils, colorful paper, and pictures 7) You can pick this one: drawing or painting! Painting: canvas, paint in different varieties of orange and plain white paint, brushes, water cup, old rag, protective table cover. Drawing: Drawing paper, markers/crayons/colored pencils in varieties of orange. 8) Air-dry clay made for kids, lots of water, wax paper for working/drying, protective table cover, old rag for wiping hands (Optional: acrylic paint after drying for several days) 9) Long roll of craft paper or poster board, markers/crayons/colored pencils, optional extras like stickers, glue, pipe cleaners, scissors, etc.
Progress is assessed through project completion.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
We will be using scissors in class. Please provide extra supervision as required regarding the use of scissors.
