Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - Pre-Kindergarten
Beginner - Advanced Level
Children will be taught basic yoga poses modified to mimic animals for example Cat-Cow as a cat stretch, Downward Dog as a dog stretch. Breathing exercises will be integrated into animal movements to enhance coordination and focus. Mindfulness concepts will be introduced through imaginative storytelling related to each animal pose.

Some topics that will be covered will include:

1. Introduction to yoga for young children
2. Animal-inspired movement exploration
3. Coordination and balance development
4. Mind-body connection through breath awareness
5. Imagination and creativity enhancement

This is an example of how the class will be structured:

Welcome and Introduction (5 minutes):
Welcome the children, introduce the theme of the current class day, and explain what they'll be doing.
Warm-Up (5 minutes): I will guide the children through simple breathing exercises while we associate each breath with an animal sound.
Main Sequence (10 minutes): I will lead the children through a series of animal-inspired poses, such as Lion's Pose, Butterfly Pose, and Snake Pose, encouraging them to mimic the movements and characteristics of each animal.
Cool Down and Rest (5 minutes): I will guide the children into a relaxation pose (e.g., Child's Pose) and encourage them to imagine they're resting like a turtle in its shell.
Closing and Goodbye (5 minute): I will wrap up the class by thanking the children for participating and inviting them to join again next time.

How I will teach the class:

I will use clear, simple language appropriate for young children.
I will demonstrate each pose myself before inviting the children to try.
I will incorporate storytelling and imagination to make the experience engaging and memorable for the children.
I will provide positive reinforcement and encouragement throughout the class.

What my teaching style looks like:

I am energetic and enthusiastic to maintain the children's interest throughout class.
I am also patient and supportive as a teacher, allowing children to explore and experiment with movements at their own pace, doing what feels right for them.
I cultivate an environment that is creative and playful, using storytelling and imaginative play to enhance learning.

Learner Interaction:

Learners will have limited interactions with each other. In this class instruction is delivered through demonstration and guidance. Interactive elements will be included such as mimicking animal movements, making animal sounds during breathing exercises, and participating in guided imagery activities. Children will have some opportunities to share their experiences and feelings during the class, either verbally or through simple discussions.
