Class Experience

Students will be able to complete a STEM challenge by following the engineering design process.
- Scissors
- Glue (may want Elmer’s, Tacky, and hot glue)
- Tape (may want a variety such as scotch, masking, and duct tape)

Various STEM Supplies
*This is just a list of suggestions. Students will design their project based on the supplies they have available to them. I find that recyclable materials work great such as small boxes and plastic containers from food packaging.

- Construction paper, card stock, craft foam, scrapbook paper
- Yarn
- Small plastic containers (yogurt, pudding, sour cream, k-cups, medicine bottles, etc.)
- Cereal boxes (cardboard is easy to cut) or other cardboard boxes
- Toilet paper and paper towel tubes
- Disposable plates, bowls, cups, and silverware
- Cupcake wrappers and coffee filters
- Tooth picks, Q-tips, cotton balls
- Craft sticks, Pipe cleaners, buttons, foam shapes
- Aluminum foil, wax paper, plastic wrap
- Bubble wrap
- Styrofoam peanuts
- Styrofoam trays
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Using hot glue is optional, however, students may need assistance if you allow them to use it for their STEM project.
