US Grade Preschool - Pre-Kindergarten
****Welcome! I am sorry, but at this time I am unable to add any additional sections outside of the scheduled classes. Please check for open enrollment in the current classes. I hope to be able to meet your learner soon! Thank you! **** In this class, we will focus on all 26 letters of the alphabet. We will review all letters each class and then focus on one letter each class. We will start with the letter A and progress through the alphabet to the letter Z, then work on additional sounds we use with our letters like (ch, sh, th, and long vowel sounds). We will use animals to inspire our song, beginning sound correspondence to each letter, and our daily craft project. This course is appropriate for preschoolers, kindergartners, and first graders needing reinforcement. This class will support learners who are just beginning to learn their ABC's and need a fun, systematic approach to learning their 26 letters. In this class, we will not be blending, reading to build fluency, or have in depth phonics activities. I will incorporate word creation and writing steps during class when appropriate. This is a beginner level phonemic awareness and phonological support class. Our class time together will support and build on the foundation of reading. We will practice our articulation of the letter sounds each day along with the hand signals and key words for mental memory building. I will teach the American Sign Language signs for each letter during class and we will use them while singing our Animal ABC song. We will use our phonological awareness of beginning, initial, sounds to discriminate spoken words to build beginning reader success. Phonics practice of writing the letters will be supported through the letter strokes of Wilson Language Basic: Fundations handwriting grid. Each class is a stand alone class. Class will begin with introduction to the animal alphabet. Singing the animal alphabet together while using our American Sign Language signs. Reviewing the hand signals and sign languages previously learned and moving into introducing the letter of the day. What is the letter's name with a hand signal to help remember the letter. Practice phonological awareness of our letter by recognizing the initial/ beginning sound and discriminating the phoneme sound between our letter of the day and other letter sounds. Instructing learners on the capital and lowercase letters strokes on the handwriting grid (optional handwriting guides for printing will be available for each class meeting). Practicing the letter strokes to write the capital and lowercase letters on students own handwriting grid. Introduction of the animal crafts of the day for the letter. ⭐️This class is not an ESL class. It will support beginning language development, vocabulary acquisition, and general conversation. Skills are focused on academic developmental skills around the letter sounds to begin proficiency for Kindergarten. ⭐️ August 12: A August 19: B August 26: C September 2: D September 9: E September 16: F September 23: G September 30: H October 7: I October 14: J October 21: K October 28: L ❤️Week of November 3- Daylight saving time will end and the class meeting start time will be impacted. However, you are welcome to write on any paper or a white board. Classroom volume is monitored during class by encouraging our friends to raise their hands and using listening skills. I also strive to keep all our friends off of mute during class, but I will mute students when needed to minimize background noise during class. Parents will be charged for ongoing classes weekly as a subscription (on Sunday mornings for the upcoming week). The price that you see listed on the class page is for each week of class. Teacher expertise and credentials
Florida Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
I have been an educator of young learners in kindergarten and first grade for 8 years and a reading coach for two years. In this time, I was able to grow and develop my teaching techniques to meet the needs of my learners and reach them on a deeper level of understanding. Learning to read starts with learning to recognize sounds. I want to help your child on this journey and experience success each class. My teaching style is fun, charismatic, and detail focused. I want to make learning fun and supportive through multiple learning style activities with songs, movements, pictures, and repetition each class.
