During this one time class we will start by comparing anger to building a fire: how/why does it get bigger, what do we do to feed it? Can we douse out anger like we do a fire? We will then go through four different methods that help put out that fire "Anger-Dousing Method #1: Take a Break" Compare anger to a vacuum cleaner, discuss examples of breaks that can be taken when feeling overwhelmed. "Anger-Dousing Method #2: Think Cool Thoughts" Define hot thoughts & cool thoughts, identify examples of both and compare them. "Anger-Dousing Method #3: Release Anger Safely" Discuss different examples of physical activity we can engage in to help us feel good "Anger-Dousing Method #4: Solve the Problem" Discuss problem solving strategies This class is created for small groups in order to encourage each child to participate and engage.

I am a Special Education Teacher and have many years of working with children who experience difficulties with emotional regulation and controlling anger. I have a M.S. in Education plus many extra graduate courses focused on mindset, mindfulness, behaviors, and trauma. I also have received two certificates from Mindful Schools in Mindfulness Fundamentals and Mindfulness Educator Essentials.
