Let's learn the most popular and my personal favorite Tagalog Christmas carol along with cultural traditions. The holidays are around the corner. Sing a Tagalog classic with me in time for Pasko!

Description

Class Experience

Christmas is coming and this is a wonderful opportunity to teach Filipino culture, tradition and music and crafts. In this class I will teach your learners three things:

1) The tradition and unique culture of Christmas caroling in the Philippines

2) How to sing "Ang Pasko ay Sumapit" (while I expose them to the whole song, my goal is to get learners to sing at least the first stanza by heart)

3) How to create their own Pinoy caroling instrument traditionally used by Filipino children...

To introduce learners to the Christmas traditions and culture in the Philippines, specifically caroling and singing the song, "Ang Pasko ay Sumapit".

Homework is optional: watching a video clip of the song to become more familiar with the lyrics and tune.

Metal bottle caps from soda bottles (alternatively you can use large washers and you will not need to poke holes)

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Parental guidance will be needed in the creation of the makeshift tambourine and holes will need to be punctured through the bottle caps with a hammer and nail.
