Student will learn by teacher led demonstration, independent work time, and constructive feedback,etc. Students will start class by looking at the Tomato Soup Cans and other artwork by Andy Warhol. Students will then describe what they see and participate in a group discussion. Student’s will then be led to see the various colors and compare and contrast them to items they have seen before. After that, students will begin to create their own pop art image. Students will practice on a piece of scrap paper with color. They will create their own pop art image using a popular food item such as a soda can. The objective is to implement this popular item with abstract colors and repetition. Once finished students will use a different color behind each object creating an even more abstract design. Students will walk away with Artist information about Andy Warhol, pop art technique, and new knowledge of the Elements of Art (Color) by Implementing them into their own work of art.
